This past Saturday, 4/12, the Homestead celebrated its volunteer staff at a lovely dinner on the West Lawn of La Casa Nueva. The evening began with a live band, drinks, and a catered dinner by Doug Fore and students and staff from the Hacienda-La Puente Adult Education Culinary Arts Program . The dinner concluded with time to recognize our entire staff.
We appreciate all that the volunteers do for the Homestead, and are always impressed by how generous they are with their time—close to 5,000 hours last year alone! Among many tasks, our administrative volunteers often cover the front desk, clean, and staff off-site programs and other special events, while our docents and museum teachers bring history to life for visitors of all ages. Last but not least, our collections volunteers do great work behind the scenes with exhibit changes, site cleaning, and conservation work.
This year, we are proud to feature our award honorees on our blog. Please join us in giving them a virtual and hearty round of applause!

Our longevity award recipients this year include:
20 years of service: Carmen Herman
25 years of service: Mitzy Nigh
